    Swim Meet FAQ

    What time is ... ?
    • Home Meet: Check in at 4:45 pm. Warm up at 5pm.
    • Away Meet: Check in at 5:15 pm. Warm up at 5:30pm.
    • All volunteer meeting at 5:45
    • Meet starts at 6pm.

    Where do I park?

We ask that Planter's Walk residents park along Lynnwood Road (on the pool side). If necessary, parking is available on Oak Grove and Clay Hill. Please do not block driveways or walk through/between yards. We reserve our parking lot for our visiting team.

I'm at the pool ... now what?

    • Swimmer check-in: swimmer checks in with our check in volunteer(s). Be sure to check out the heat line-up! This is also available on the swimtopia app.
    • Parent check-in: parent checks in with our volunteer coordinator to confirm/receive volunteer assignment and to receive necessary supplies. Be ready for the volunteer meeting at 5:45.
    • Find a spot your family and stuff :) Please remember to cheer from the Right side of the pool. The away team is on the left side of the pool.
    • Grab some dinner! See snack shack for details.
    • Enjoy the meet!

    What can/will my child swim?

    • Swimmers can swim two relays - the medley and the freestyle.
    • 6&U swimmers swim three individual races (freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke), with a max of two as events (scored). Others are heats.
    • 7+ swimmers swim four individual races (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly), with a max of three as events (scored). Others are heats.

An event/heat 1 is the first run of a swim at a given age/gender and is scored.

Heats (referring to heats 2 or later) are available to make sure all swimmers can participate in the meet. These are not scored but we do expect all swimmers to swim all strokes - whether event or heat. Of course the youngest are helped by CITs when needed!

    What about awards?

    • Heat winner and heat participant ribbons are given to 6&U, 7/8, and 9/10 immediately upon leaving the water. Make sure they don't take off before the volunteer can get to them!
    • 1st-6th place ribbons are available the day or two after the meet for event/heat 1 swimmers. Please note if the swimmer is disqualified for the event, he/she will not receive a ribbon for that event.

Do I need to do anything before I go?

    • If you are leaving before the end of the meet, your swimmer needs to check out with the coach.
    • Home meets: Help with cleanup: return chairs, pick up trash, etc.
